Serving Up Sustainability

Good Bowls are healthy frozen meals, based on the Mediterranean diet, and prepared using locally sourced produce. We are working daily to create a sustainable food system, so in addition to stocking up people’s freezers with local NC food we’ve also been catering events in the area providing sustainable and locally-sourced meals for local events.

We kicked off October by working with UNC Edible Campus to cater the Harvest Fest on UNC’s campus. UNC Edible Campus plants and tends to gardens throughout the grounds and allows students to learn hands-on about food sustainability. So we were happy to partner with them to provide students with a healthy and sustainable meal for this year’s Harvest Festival. For the dinner, we sourced all of our produce through the local Durham-based food aggregator, Happy Dirt and served up our classic Chicken Burrito Bowl and Veggie Curry flavors.

As October marched on, we were invited to provide dinner for the UNC Hospital’s faculty and later lunch for the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School Impact Career Forum. Sustainability was again on the menu so all of our produce came from NC farmers through Happy Dirt. Plus for these meals, we partnered with Kristin Bulpitt from Copeland Springs Farm and Kitchen to provide salads that were grown and harvested entirely in Pittsboro.

As people increasingly value sustainability and strength in the local food system, locally sourced and made Good Bowls are becoming ever more popular and organizations are falling in love with our sustainable and healthy catered meals for their organization’s or office’s events.

So if you live in the Triangle area and are interested in sustainable and locally-sourced, healthy food for your next event, give us a call!
