Questions About Our Mission

  • Our mission isn’t as simple as buy one-give one or “all profits go to charity.” Our Nutrition Outreach arm involves a variety of activities that include subsidizing the cost of Good Bowls for blue collar workers and buying ingredients from local farmers who struggle to make a sustainable living.

But by far, everyone's favorite Good Bowls food equity initiative is the Community Harvest program. We collect donations from Good Bowls fans who are aligned with our mission, we work with a locally-owned partner restaurant to make the meals, and then donate them to our community partner CIS Chatham. We run the campaign every other month and cook and donate hundreds of meals each round. It's a win-win for everyone involved.

And lastly, by sharing all of our recipes and providing “how to” videos, we hope tasting the bowls will inspire people to “try this at home” as a way to increase healthy food options for the whole family.

  • You can start by picking up some Good Bowls next time you're shopping at your local co-op. Or, you can make a donation to our Community Harvest program and have a meal donated to a food-insecure Community Harvest family during our next campaign.

Questions About Nutrition

  • All Good Bowls recipes are developed by Nutrition Professor, Dr. Alice Ammerman. They are based on the well studied and highly recommended Mediterranean diet, with a southern twist for local taste preferences and seasonal food availability, We call it the “Med South” diet. We use plenty of heart healthy olive oil, fresh vegetables, and whole grains.
