Farm to Fork 2025

Weaver Street Market’s Chef Glenn Lozuke and Good Bowls Sophie Padalecki working the table at the event

The North Carolina Farm to Fork event has been held annually for over 15 years. The event is a chance for chefs, artisans, and farmers to come together and showcase their dishes and talents. In years past the event has been held at Fearrington Village and in 2025 it was hosted at Donovan Manor in Apex.

For this year’s event, Good Bowls teamed up again with Weaver Street Market. Our farm partner was Burkett Farm out of Raleigh that features sustainable farming, climate-smart land conservation, and community connections. The event is an opportunity for people from the community to come and learn about local restaurants and producers and sample some of the unique food and beverage creations that are coming out of North Carolina. We worked with Weaver Street’s Executive Chef Glenn Lozuke to come up with our menu. We decided to showcase our Korean Beef Bulgogi Bowl as well as our version of Chicken Fried Rice. All of our recipes incorporate the Med-South diet principles so people were eager to sample the healthy spin on these classics that included plenty of olive oil, whole grains, and roasted vegetables.

Rainbow Kernza Salad

We also served a Rainbow Kernza Salad. As we work with local farmers and producers we are exploring more environmentally friendly options to help improve the sustainability of the local food system. Kernza is a perennial grain, meaning you don’t have to plant it every year. It produces year after year and its roots can reach over 10 feet into the ground making it an excellent crop to stabilize the soil and prevent erosion. In addition to the Kernza grain, the Rainbow Salad featured Quinoa, farm fresh kale, carrots, and red peppers as well as fresh-chopped mint and a lemon-apricot dressing. This hearty salad was a huge fan favorite….and stay tuned for some possible Good Bowls featuring Kernza in the months to come.

And of course we took some time to sample the dozens of other vendors and tables at the event. We were stationed next to Alpha Pizza from Chapel Hill and also sampled a delicious variety of cheese from Box Car Cheeses, had a little chocolate dessert from Videri, and what better way to wash it down on a hot NC afternoon than a ice cold Lager from Steel String brewery. Hope to see you at the event next year!!
